  • 22LR Picture thread

    Hi guys,

There seem to be picture threads for every other type of rifle/shotgun/pistol out there so why not a 22lr???

I will start it off with my 2:

Thompson Center Contender with custom stock.

I don't have a pic of it with a scope so this is it for the time being.

I will start it off with my 2:

Stiller Lonestar, Lilja Barrel, Jewell Trigger, AICS stock and SIghtron SIII 6-24x50 scope.

Its still a work in progress, waiting on new rings and possible base modification for some more elevations. Once its completed it will get a nice cerakote job, i hate plain black stocks.

It's not much, but its got the most kills under its belt by a few hundred out of all my firearms. Always good fun to shoot, and it doesn't pang with regret at the cost when I get back from a day out.

                CHang739,
I had one just like yours and it shot really well. I was getting around .5" groups at 50m with cheap ammo but that fun ended when it was stolen.

                Billy goat,
How does the Winchester 22 go? I have a soft spot for the Winchester model 70's but have never shot a Winchester 22lr.

                Guys,
I like the now retro 1.0 but i had the colour, black is boring. Performance wise it shoots SK ammo into 1 hole at 50m but so it should it wasnt cheap. What i built it for was trying to shoot at long range. So far i have shot it at 300y and 500y on F Class targets. I needed 52-54moa of elevation to get to 300y and 104moa to get to 500y. I ran out of adjustment for the 500y target so i had to wind the magnification back and use the reticle to hold over. On the day the rifle fired 50 rounds at 300 and 500 and every shot hit the paper. A couple of the guys with me had a shot and they didn't miss either. The only issue with long range 22lr is the extreme spread of the ammo, a 10 fps variance can make a 1-2 moa verticle string on the target. The targets were marked so i wasnt able to have a good look at the group so next time i will take some pictures and post them. Once i work out how to get another 30moa in the set up i will get it cerakoted as the black panels dont do it for me. The 2 options are to fir a 20moa Spuhr and shim the base or get a set of Barret 15/40 Ex rings.
