  • Another Savage MK2

I finally got to have a proper go at shooting my Savage MK2 BTVS fitted with a Mueller 4.5-14 x 40 AO scope
I replaced the crap scope rings I had with some name brand rings and I was happy with how it now shoots
for my second ever attempt at 50 metre benchrest.
It likes CCI std velocity ammo and they are pretty good value for money I reckon.

He who has never made a mistake has never made anything.

Many things have been developed by persons who were not smart enough to realize that they were impossible.

The group is okay, but gee that scope is sitting up above the rifle much more than it needs to be.

    How is the cheek weld?

Yep! must be a struggle to get a good sight picture with it sitting that high. Other than that it looks like a nice outfit.

That pic was of the previous owners scope, I bought it less scope.
I am using a Mueller scope on medium Luepold rings.
It's the first scoped rifle I've had, so still learning even at my age.

I'm glad ya swapped out the mounts mate, that setup in the pic is so wrong its not funny, I don't know how anyone would have got a decent cheek weld with that. I like the SS and Boyds - looks fantastic.

Nice group Dingo, especially considering it's only your second attempt at 50m BR.
