  • 223 Rem 90gr Load Data

    HI guys,

I have been playing around with my 7 twist 223 and 90gr Bergers. I was surprised at how little data there was on the net for it so i thought i would put some on here.

    RIFLE:
    Winchester Model 70
    PacNor 30" 7 Twist
    Lapua Brass
    Rem 7 1/2 Primers
    Berger 90gr BT Target
    AR2208
    OAL: 2.575"
    Base to Ogive: 2.020"

    CHARGE VELOCITYS AVE
    22.0 2425 2453 2439
    22.5 2565 2506 2457 2509
    23.0 2566 2575 2569 2570
    23.5 2582 2620 2626 2609
    24.0 2731 2732 2715 2726
    24.5 2725 2742 2741 2736
    25.0 2775 2783 2779

The 25gr charge wasn't compressed. I am going to head out to the range again with fired cases and see if i can work it up until its compressed and see what i can get out of it.

NOTE: THESE LOADS WERE SAFE IN MY RIFE, AS ALWAYS REDUCE THE CHARGE AND WORK UP THE LOAD IN YOUR RIFLE TO ENSURE ITS SAFE.

      Skip,

Yep, i have a 223AI reamer. I went for the AI to help make keeping ammo between my 223 easier, nothing to do with performance.

The 90's look even better in a 22-250AI

Not long on this site I too am interested in trying 90gn pills in my fast twist 223 have you had any more success what kind of accuracy did you end up with, did you settle on a load or give up the idea because of the lack of speed. And what ranges did you try the 90gns at.

    Thanks

With a 30" barrel you don't have to shoot them. Just hit them over the head, right across the paddock

I have been playing with the 80 and 90 grain and I find the 90 to be very accurate and have just order 200 80 grain and 200 90 grain to do more testing for long range shooting out off my 30" savage 223 with 7"twist just love the VLDs
This isn't rocket science guys ... it's more complicated than that, and it has aspects of the Dark Arts, And this smokeless stuff will not last
