    Hello Macca,

Do you reload? If so I have some idea having just worked up a load for my Smith Corona.

    Photos?

In my sako 85 laminated stainless hunter
      180g winchester good
      178g norma also good
AND they hit the same point of impact both manufacturers
150g untested as yet not bothered trying
I always said i would not bother with 30-06 but a sako was offered too cheep to leave alone
I love the cartridge its a real workhorse no fuss and its got the proven time stamp of 107 years in production and use

Long time user of a .30-06 and other .30 cals. Remington Core Lokt SP 150g and 180g. Pretty cheap, accurate, no misfires....they just do the job. I haven't shot at a rifle range though in over 30 years. Can't be bothered.

I also reload for my 06, however i second sambar on Remington core lokt in 180gn.
Was the best shooting factory load for my browning x bolt.

          Cheers

How well can you shoot though?

Thanks to all who've passed on advice, CE, I don't reload...not yet! Thanks Sambar, Lead Slinger and plinkinmad Might give the Remington Core Lokt 180g's and the Winchesters 180's a crack...I see S&B also make 30-06 as well. Unfortunately the little time I have off work only allows me to get to a range...

        I'm reasonably used to 7.62 x 54r, 8mm and .303, never shot a 30-06 before now.

Thanks again for the advice to all

            Macca,
I had a 1903A3, it was a JRA Remington, like many service rifles I found 2 inches(5 shot) at 100yds with most factory loads(150-180gn) but did enjoy shooting 125gn Remington Core Lokt in a managed recoil factory load, as for comments regarding 30.06 not punching a hide at 100, well my SAKO in 30.06 has punched some skulls of clean skin bulls at 100 so I don't know what that person is talking about, possibly suspect he doesn't either.

Thanks for the feedback hoot, I think with most rifles/loads, you need to have options depending on barrel condition etc. If I could anywhere near 2inches at 100 I'd be stoked! I've actually picked the rifle up this week, so will post some photo's once I actually have some free time during daylight t take some... Cheers, Macca
