  • Slazenger Model 24 .22 Hornet

    Gday,
got my Slaz model 24 .22 hornet yesterday.
the rifle is pretty grubby and in need of a cleanup which i sort of what i was hoping for and expecting.
it's a 1941 Lithgow action and came with a field side mount and 4X scope.
here is some pics of it before i strip it down and get started:

Is the mag spring a coil or W
Sent via pony express and mail plane

You know that moment when the steak is on the grill and your mouth waters in anticipation? Vegans feel the same after mowing the lawn.

    Very nice rifle S12A.....
There must be some mistake. And I have a nasty feeling I was there when I made it.....

Nice looking rifle, should clean up well.

Looking at the "varnish", it wouldn't surprise me if it was Shellac, a popular low cost wood finish of that era. I have an all original model 12 that has been in the family since new which displays the same style of flaking.

Try a cloth with metho to see if this will clean it up.

      Baz.
It takes 43 muscles to frown, 17 to smile, and 3 for proper trigger squeeze........Relax!!

I sold one of these sometime ago in excellent condition . It shot really well but mags can be difficult to source . i believe the a model by savage mags will fit these . If i remember the spring was a W but i wouldnt trust my memory .

Both mine get used a fair bit, the full wood just because it looks good and confuses people
The other one had the charger bridge refitted and is drilled and tapped and shoots like stink and is responsible for a reduction of feral cats out home
I have a 10rnd savage mag that has been modded to fit (just need a spring) it will be a handy little firearm in the ute
