  • engraved colt 1911 .45 ACP

    Hello!
Before I start, this pistol isn't mine! It belongs to a fellow collector in the same town as myself and that means I can at least get to eye ball occasionally!
    Details:
It is a Colt 1911 commercial made in 1914. It has Canadian issue markings and this is backed up by a Colt research letter.
The Pistol spent time in the first world war with a Canadian doctor and then went between England, South Africa and Australia.
The engraving is of a pretty good quality and looks to be English.......but at this stage it is un-known who the engraver was. It is un-confirmed but we think it was done by Hollond and Hollond. (If any one can shed any light on this it would be appreciated!)

    Enjoy!

            Hello alkapitano!
No, it isn't a peep sight. It is just an old school target sight.
At some stage the pistol had a High Standard barrel fitted and also an arched main spring housing. We assume these changes along the sights were done when the pistol was engraved.
