Free Pistol is the oldest target shooting event still in existence. It remains almost unchanged since 1890 with all rules codified by about 1935.

It is an ISSF event shot at the Olympics and Commonwealth Games etc. The event requires use of single shot .22LR pistols over 50 metres.

The event is officially called "50 m pistol" but everyone still calls it Free Pistol.

It is gruelling event requiring concentration skills and trigger control well beyond my capability.

My Dad shot this event at Master grade but I was never able to match his ability.

Also, Google can be your friend.

Just as a matter of interest, is that the match with the strange French name, turning targets and duelling, I shoot that some 10 years back.
