    Enough Nonsense!

God, in his infinite wisdom, has seen fit to provide me with a big button marked ‘moderate’ and this is how the ‘Politics and Media’ section is going to work from here on out ladies and gentlemen -

    1. Henceforth, robust debate is to be embraced – but you play the ball, not the man.

    2. Contributors abusing mods or mods abusing contributors (even if you think they’re dickheads) will not be tolerated – see rule one.

    3. If you want to discuss the relative merits of National Socialism that’s fine, but you comport yourselves like adults, or I promise I’ll pull your plug faster than shit through a goose and I’m not known for having a forgiving disposition.

Now, a long standing contributor (whom I like personally) has been given seven days confined to barracks. It wasn’t my call, but I’m prepared to let the sentence stand as a lesson to the rest of you - there are limits. At the same time, a word to my comrades – being a mod means that as far as practical, you stay above the traffic.

God (hallowed be his name) has spent considerable time and resources to get this site up and running and I believe it has the potential to become the biggest and best pro-shooting location in the country and I’ve given a commitment to do what I can to make that happen and keep it on track.

So when it comes to the M&P section of shootingaustralia.net – there’s a new sheriff in town and if you think I’m joking, to borrow from Wyatt Earp “Skin that smoke-wagon and see what happens.”

So now lets all get back to arguing about the issues of the day.

At last ................ someone finally saw the light and put a badge on the gun slinger!

    Couldn't think of a better sheriff in the M & P section.

I rather think that He would have a Jericho 941 rather than a Winchester,
Saint Peter, on the other hand, being a practical sort of bloke, would have a Colt 1911; whereas the rest of the 12 would have a couple of Negev NG7, in 7.62mm calibre, along with their Converted '98 Mausers.

        Does not

The Media and Politics section is for intelligent and considered debate on current firearm, sports shooting and hunting-related media stories and politics only
        contradict what you said at

        3. If you want to discuss the relative merits of National Socialism that’s fine, but you comport yourselves like adults, or I promise I’ll pull your plug faster than shit through a goose and I’m not known for having a forgiving disposition.

There’s no contradiction Rodders – the first thing ‘der Führer’ did when he came to power was revoke everyone’s gun license.

Second, when the Wehrmacht decided to make an extended visit to Poland, the first thing they did was roundup everyone who had a registered firearm.

So with all that in mind, I think any discussion about National Socialism (as far is it pertains to gun-control) is perfectly legitimate.

Yep, it looks like you can say all the bad things you like about the Nazis, but restricting gun ownership for citizens is not one of them. As has been mentioned, the Nazis actually restored guns rights (errr ... at least for Aryans).

It turns out German citizens were deprived of privately owned firearms by:

        The Allies (Britain, France, US)

Dammit, I hate it when the truth gets in the way of a good story.

always so close and yet so far.
Hitler did not want to kill everybody he only wanted to kill the jews who in short order were forbidden from owning guns at all and then from being unmarked members of society. (remember the star of david, they remember wearing it)
2 who remembers the FP-45 Liberator. the one shot pistol it took you 3 solid minutes to reload that was the game changing factor of the resistance why. because one well placed 45 round equaled as many Mauser rounds as a German soldier could carry. The point is to be able to see all the guns. Its pretty hard to walk around with a rifle under your coat.
No hand guns don't win wars, but politicians who do unpopular things don't want guns they cant see in popular circulation. That is how politicians get shot (not by me incidentally we are talking WW2 stay on the page for me)
Just my two cents but restricting hand guns and in the eyes of a modern army is a great way of making sure nobody can resist you. Even in Germany then it was a "if I can see it I might be able to kill it" world. The Germans could not defend against what they could not see however. which is why the fp-45 worked SOO well for the resistance.
"He got the whole nine yards" - as it happens World War II (1939–1945) aircraft machine gun belts (US 50 cal) were nine yards long.
