  • Bench Rest Stock Build

I had this broken Winchester stock now for a couple of year. It was broken through the grip section.
Its since been repaired with a steal dowel & replaced with a boyds .
So its now a project benchrest build, using silky oak. I'll try & mod the inletting to now take a Tikka Action!!!!!

Looks like it's coming together nicely, a lot elbow grease going into that.

Interesting I too play with "Ugly Rifles",Steel add on skeleton structures and hidden anchor screws and other bits of builders bog.
Up till now I used a lot of Plastic Mastic Two pot metal with excellent results in hardness and if bedding holes were pre drilled in to wood bits nothing ever shrinks or lets go.
Plastic mastic seems to have gone off the market so I switched to Sellys Kneed it / cheap and in the AQUA white form its a bit crumbly bit gives plenty of working time.
Good if its well supported but a bit Soft I fink.
Anyway I found it also comes in a grey metal form and tried it for the first time.
It sets like a brick and almost too quickly but hell it is hard and wont crumble.
A vast improvement it dries to a dark grey almost black color.

Some might like to play with that.
This is an old from way back Clunker built of the stuff , it shoots Ok ,Abit light and bounces around a bit but the stock fit is spot on.
A good coat of heat resitent paint and it would come up OK.

Don’t poke the snake, walk around it and come back later with a double-barrelled shotgun and blow its [email protected]#!ing head off!.

Australia in future, the outcome is the same, a bloody dictatorship run on the whims of a very few ego-centric pathological elitists.

I was thinking of using some car putty, with the reinforcing in it.
But I think it would let go after prolonged recoil.
