  • How to recrown a barrel?

On the back of the thread about shortening a barrel, could someone please explain the process of recrowning a barrel? What machines are necessary? What tooling? What's the best crown shape? Do you have to remove the action from the barrel to do it? How hard is it to thread a barrel for a brake etc. I have seen it done once a while back but would like an on depth description please if someone has the time.

    Thanks,

It's simple if you know what to do.

If you can work a lathe ( your set ) change the gears and speed you want for the thread you want. ( off ya go ) slow and steady ( material is hard to replace if you go too far )

For just cleaning up the crown. As I posted this before. Let Larry explane. Can be done with simple hand tools.

I believe the best angle to countersink is 11 degrees..

If doing it by hand consider pushing a mop down the muzzle a few inches so nothing falls down the barrel, especially with an air rifle so stuff don't get all the way into the cylinder.

Don't ask why I know this!
